Helping the National Children’s Bureau better support schools to tackle homophobic bullying.
We were delighted when the National Children’s Bureau reached out to us for help with their “Learn Equality, Live Equal” programme.Having received a grant from the Government Equalities Office, The National Children’s Bureau created a partnership between the Anti Bullying Alliance, Sex Education Forum and EACH in order to support schools tackling important issues surrounding homophobic, biphobic and transphobic (HBT) bullying.
Part of the programme involved collecting a large number of materials that demonstrated the work schools had done to equip teaching and non-teaching staff with the knowledge, skills and confidence to tackle prejudice. A key outcome of this project was to share what other schools were doing and increase collaboration and sharing.

We worked with the team and developed a number of quick prototypes and ultimately landed on creating a small CMS powered microsite which provided a cost-effective way to share the resources that were collated by the team. The microsite provided a central location for teachers to access and download various resources including videos, images, quotes, documents and audio.
We worked with the existing brand values to design something which felt consistent across the programme materials. The site is built on WordPress, providing an easy to use interface to update new content or make changes to the site going forward.
We really enjoyed working on this project with the NCB team, and we hope the value we’ve provided helps the programme move forward and succeed. This project demonstrated to us that sometimes the simplest solutions are the best ones. It’s important to understand why we build things and to ensure that the objective is the focus, not whatever fancy technology is currently available. It’s doesn’t always need to be complicated or expensive. You can visit the site here.

The Idea Bureau instantly ‘got’ what we were trying to achieve and helped to grow and refine our vision with some great suggestions of their own. Project management and communication were both excellent, and the simple, but beautiful, final product is something we are really proud of.
