The benefits of showcasing your impact with a bespoke interactive map
As a charity, non-profit or NGO, there’s no doubt that you work tirelessly in your sector to strive for change, to raise awareness, and to advocate for what’s right. Getting this message across to your different types of users can be challenging. We’re here to show you the benefits that representing your impact with a bespoke interactive map will have for your organisation.
Visually demonstrate your impact
An interactive map enables us to present the impact that your organisation has on a global scale. There’s no better way to visually demonstrate the areas that you work or how different countries comply with different laws.
To create our maps we use the industry leading tool, Mapbox. Mapbox enables us to create completely bespoke interfaces that are entirely customised to your organisations needs. It empowers us to create an experience that is on brand and that can show varying levels of details depending on what our goal is.
We’ve had the pleasure of creating a fully bespoke Atlas for Girls Not Brides and this was a great way for the organisation to show how countries do or don’t comply with child marriage laws across the world.

Our users are very used to interacting with websites that have long form scrolling content. Whilst this content can be designed to be engaging with the use of imagery, videos and a variety of designed components, this doesn’t compare to what an interactive map has to offer.
A map interface allows us to connect with varying different types of users. We can connect with those that are looking for more high-level data with the use of colour and filtering, whilst also enabling those interested and wanting to engage in the details to click into specific countries to reveal very granular data. This granular data is what makes your map special and promotes what your organisation has achieved and continues to do.
With our maps there is a great opportunity to play around with animation and interaction that our users experience. These delightful elements make the experience more interactive and engaging for our users. Whilst these might seem like small subtle things to do, they have a lasting impact on audience.
The opportunity to become a leading tool in your space
By offering a unique experience in your sector we have the opportunity to create a leading tool for professionals (donors, funders, supporters etc.) in your space to rely on and return to time and time again. This tool has the potential to become the go-to for their research and latest updates.
Creating a tool like this could open up lots of potential for your organisation, which could be in the form of funding opportunities, raising your profile, and building connections with people in your space.

Read the case studyAn opportunity to compare data
Using a map interface to visualise data provides us with a unique opportunity of being able to compare country data in a way like never before.
The Legal Atlas that we created for Consortium for Street Children does exactly this and it’s been a really powerful feature for their users. What would have once been a time consuming process for users to have to manually compare countries can now be achieved at the click of a button.
We truly believe that if your data can be made to work on an interactive map then it’s a great opportunity to engage with your users in a unique way. Whilst we’ve covered some ways that this data can be shown on a map, there are lots of other opportunities e.g. heatmaps that can be explored depending on your data set.
